The new modeling and analysis software

for NUCLEAR and INDUSTRIAL piping systems

and supports.

Qualified for Class 1 calculations, engineered for high-temperature environments, and compatible with advanced nuclear technologies including SMRs and fusion.

MetaPiping 2025 has been released

Based on a powerful graphical modeler

MetaPiping provides a set of piping modeling tools, intelligent selection functions, smooth mouse navigation, adaptive zoom, with layer and group management for efficient design.

Powered by EDF’s Code_Aster solver

Code_Aster offers a full range of multiphysical analysis and modelling methods that go well beyond the standard functions of a thermomechanical calculation code: from seismic analysis to porous media via acoustics, fatigue, stochastic dynamics, etc.

Supported codes :

  • EN 13480-3 Editions 2017, 2020 with Table H.3 (bidirectional SIFs)
  • RCC-M Class 1 Editions 2002, 2007, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020
  • RCC-M Class 2 Editions 2002, 2007, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020
  • ASME Section III Class 1 Editions 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021
  • ASME Section III Class 2 & 3 Editions 2004 + A06, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021
  • ANSI/ASME B31.1 Editions 1998, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 (with B31J SIFs)
  • ASME III Appendix XXVI (Polyethylene HDPE Piping)
  • EDF Composite Piping (E.N.S.IN/91-025 indice D)
  • RCC-MRx Vol. B Class N1 Edition 2022 (type P and S damages +  abatement factor g + fatigue usage + creep rupture)

Designed in a modular way to facilitate

the integration of python code

MetaPiping offers the creation of PYTHON virtual environment without any additional installation (with requirements.txt file). It is possible to add modules developed by the user but also to import libraries such as Numpy, Panda, Tensorflow, etc.

In this way, the user can do pre- and post-processing on the model and/or on the results.

Quality assurance

MetaPiping is validated on a large number of test cases. A qualification file is established demonstrating the compliance of the software with the most demanding standards of the nuclear industry.

Detailed finite element analysis

  • Precise definition of the element geometry, including crotch radii for reducers
  • Second-order 8-node QUADRANGLES for curved surface elements (mesh)
  • Second-order 20-node HEXAHEDRONS for curved volumetric elements (brick)
  • Automatic load application and boundary condition definition
  • Complete resolution via Code_Aster solver
  • Detailed visualization of overall deformations, stress distributions, and plastic strain zones
  • Fully customizable report

MetaStructure

MetaStructure can be used to model any type of steel STRUCTURE or SUPPORT, whether piping-independent or totally connected.

Support reactions calculated during piping analysis can be retrieved and used as loads for the structure. One single structure can support several piping studies simultaneously !

Several kind of joint connections can be entered by defining  relaxation and stiffness conditions, integrating BOLTED PLATES and various WELDING parameters.

Last but not least, MetaStructure can define external ANCHOR PLATES in accordance with the latest standards.

Currently available STRUCTURE standards: ASME III NF, RCC-M, EN 13480-3 and EN 1993-1-1. Currently available ANCHORING standards: EN 1992-4.

Finite Element Analysis

Detailed analysis of FLEXIBLE ANCHOR PLATES by means of plate and shell finite elements for various stiffener arrangements, taking into account non-linear plate/concrete contact and material plasticity.

This tool allows the user to refine the mesh using a powerful integrated MESHER, then our native Code_Aster solver performs a detailed analysis of the plate, fasteners and concrete.

The results (plate deformation, diagnosis of each fastener, stresses, strains and compression of the plate in contact with the concrete) can be saved in a user-defined WORD report.

Plugin architecture

MetaPiping provides input file converters thanks to its modular architecture.

Four converters are currently available: PCF, PIPSYS, PIPESTRESS and BEAMSTRESS.
